Easy Burlap Wreath

I wanted to make a change to my entry way and started going to work. I made several things that I will post, but first I thought I would share the easy Burlap wreath I made. I love me some burlap!! It can be used as a seasonally wreath to match each holiday by changing the ribbon or a permanent decoration. I chose to do this one as a permanent decoration, but plan on making another one for my front door that I can change up (just bigger).

                                               

What You Need:

• 14" foam wreath
• 1 yard burlap (will have left over)
• scissors
• ruler
• ribbon for hanging

                                       

How to:

1. Cut burlap into 2" wide by 17" long strips.

If you have burlap fabric then you don't have to worry about the edges coming apart and its easy to cut. But if you got regular burlap like I use then there's a trick on how to cut a straight line avoiding edges coming apart.
               Trick on cutting burlap:

Pick one strand from end and pull it all the way through

You will make a line that you will follow w/ your scissors

       

You then measure and pull your strands and cut all strips at once

Cut edges on a slant

2. Now all you do is tie each strip in a knot around the foam wreath, one at a time, overlapping so no foam shows.

                                     

3. Attach ribbon by tying or I glued edge to go over my curtain rod. I also made fabric and jute twist flowers to match my decor to put on it. Short tutorial on how to on DIY Picture Frame from past post.

DIY Picture Frame

I don't know about you put I have about 100 black picture frames laying around. I used to always buy black bc I knew that they would always match and it didn't matter the wood shape or quality. I came across a picture that I wanted to put in my daughters room, but didn't have a cute enough frame to match her decor. So I busted out the jute that I used for the DYI Banner, some sand paper and a glue gun and went to work on a boring black frame.

This is what I came up with and think its super cute and fits right in with the rest of her room.

Supplies:
-Black frame (size of your choice)
-sand paper
-glue gun
-jute or thick twine

Directions:

1. Take your sand paper and sand the edges, corners and any portion that is raised on your frame. Just rough it up a lil to look worn.

   2. Using your glue gun, start at bottom right corner and glue each side while placing jute over glue. (Don't cut-use one entire strand). Cut when you get back to where you started.

    

     3. To make "round flowers", start with dab of glue on end and start rolling like a cinnamon roll gluing edge as roll (only need lil bit of glue, don't get crazy bc it will get messy). PS-watch your fingers! Its HOT!

     4. Glue your "flowers" on left upper corner or desired spot and wallah, your done! A cute frame!

Revamp that VASE

I have a small collection of odd sized vases under my kitchen sink that I rarely use and that are pretty much just taking up space. I thought......Brandi, what can I do with these? That's when I went to my trusted glue gun and Jute and got to work. This is what I came up with and think its cute and could be used for different things.

                       Its really easy and takes less then 10 minutes to make. Well worth  it I think!
Supplies:

• jute or thick twine
• glue gun and sticks
• vase (any size)

Directions:

1. Starting at bottom of vase, glue around edge about 2-3 inches at a time and wrap your jute around. Continue gluing and wrapping close to itself until you get to top, never cutting jute.

     2. When you get to top, cut jute and finish gluing to cover all glass.
     3. Make flowers same as in DIY Picture Frame. You start by gluing end of jute to itself and wrapping and gluing edge as you go until get desired size.

      4. Glue flowers (I did 2) to bottom of vase. That's it!

This would be really cute with any size vase! I am going to do a large one to hold sunflowers in the summer :) Its great bc it still holds water and is way cuter then seeing the stems of your flowers. Happy Re-vamping!!!!
